The Unit is staffed by a team of dedicated teachers committed to the premise of inclusive education. On any given day, there exists a ratio of four teachers to eight students. Although administratively there is a Unit Coordinator, the approach to the work of the Unit is always collaborative and collegiate, with both teachers and students being members of the same team.
The primary objective of the Unit remains the successful reintegration of students to mainstream classrooms, and trauma informed educative techniques are utilised to promote a safe and welcoming learning environment.
Over 100 years of varied teaching experience exists within the teaching cohort, ranging from pre-school, through primary, secondary and tertiary settings. Teachers at the Unit also incorporate knowledge and strategies from backgrounds in Youth Work, Juvenile Justice, VCAL and VET.
